Annual Home and Leisure Show - Kenora

The Annual Home & Leisure show is hosted by the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce. The show takes place at the Kenora Recreation Centre and average attendance is around 2,000 people.  The show displays many new exciting leisure products as well as offering advice and ideas.

Saskatoon Berry Picking Season

Saskatoons are some of the very best berries for pies and jams.  The best time for picking is in the morning or late evening when it is cooler.  The fruit should not be harvested after a rainfall or when there is heavy dew.  Handle ripe berries carefully as they are quite soft.

Early to Late July

Blueberry Picking Season

Blueberry season typcally runs from early to late July but it is largely dependent on the weather.  Cool weather tends to reduce the season.  Wild blueberries are sweet, nutricious and delicious.  

Picking is best done during the cooler mornings and later evenings, especially when the sky is overcast.  Wild blueberries can often be found in open areas and along the edges of roadways and powerline cuts.

Kenora Walleye Open

Gooseberry Picking Season

Gooseberry picking typically runs from late July though to the middle of August but the season is highy dpendent on the weather.  Gooseberries are great for jams and jellies but beware - the bushes are quite prickly!

Kenora Harbourfest

Kenora's biggest summer party takes place each August long weekend along the Kenora waterfront. There are all kinds of activities for young and old alike and always a tremendous lineup of music and entertainment. More details to follow.

Rowing - Canada Summer Games Kenora

Canada Summer Games - Rowing

The Rowing Events of the 2017 Canada Summer Games will be hosted at the Kenora Rowing Club located at 110 Birchwood Crescent in Kenora. Rowing was first included in the summer games in 1969.  Each province and territory will be sending up to 30 of their top young athletes under the age of 21.

Kenora Bass International

This event on Lake of the Woods offers up to a $30,000 first place prize.  Anglers here have the opportunity to fish for largemouths or smallmouths.  The winning weight for this three day event will be in the 45-50 pound range.
